Few ways of doing that:
- Use the Lions Phone Book (distributed by the lions)
- Use either dayboroinfo.com.au or dayboro.com to search online
Dayboroinfo is not to replace all the other means of finding businesses; it is here to compliment (Lions Dayboro & District Business Directory) those. Feel free to add your own business and services. It is FREE we only focus on businesses and events in the Dayboro District
Local shops and businesses come and go; for this reason, we try to keep the directory as dynamic as possible.
Get exposure for free
Make people aware of your planned event, one-off or recurring. If you want you can post your posts, list your business web page or facebook page, get events emailed directly to your email box if you want.
It is free; you are in control, we help you when you need it. This directory has been open for a decade. It makes no for the administrator, there is no alternative motive, and it is NON-BIAS just a service provided by a Dayboro resident.
How to get MORE exposure, as in let people know you exist?
We just have the ticket for that, see our blog page on how we were going or are doing that.
We are not the only one, www.dayboro.com is another place to get your site listed. The more, the better.
HOWEVER…. few things you have to keep in mind when you list your business.
- Make sure the website is on a server that is NOT slow.
- Make sure that the content of the listings is not the same. (Google does not like that)
- Make sure your listing is up to date.
- Dayboro.com is following suit
Both Dayboroinfo.com.au and Dayboro.com made by guys that know what they are doing. They create unique and sustainable listings for you. Dayboro.com has no affiliation with dayboroinfo, they are not the same or managed by the same people.
Just a bunch of guys that want to promote YOUR business for FREE.
DAYBOROINFO is a website/page to help promote surrounding business, taking the town of the yesteryear into the 21st century and beyond. This site is the most comprehensive, searchable, most significant and most extended online source of local information. You as a resident can add events, advertise your business services and products. The site is intended to inform people in the areas around Dayboro, primarily targeting those who are not on Facebook. The webpage is non-bias, this means everybody can promote and advertise for FREE and has been available to the community since 2004.
Lets have a look what the Yesteryear town (Dayboro) has to offer.
What is available on this informational site?
Only approved listings are available and as the logo says, it is INFO. You can search for “What is on“, “Accommodation“, “Local Businesses“, “Things to see” what social media sites are related to Dayboro and soon an online “local produce exchange“. The idea is not new, and many have tried to compile this information into one location, and many will try again. The only thing that makes dayboro.info (affectionately known as mydayboro.com.au) stand out is the duration. As previously mentioned, we have been here since 2004, and with the new influx of people and businesses it is time to clean out the cobwebs, and get serious about promoting Dayboro.
The site will grow and update as time progresses, I need your help to keep it current and to prevent that it goes into a black hole as so many other sites before this. You will find that there is a range of webpages that contain old and stale information.
Dayboro District Progress Association
This site is by no means associated with the DDPAI, quite the opposite. We believe that each business should be able to advertise and promote their services in a way they see fit. Unlike the DDPAI we will not curate or dictate the information you want to use for your advertisements, nor will we bully you into doing what we believe you should do. This site also does NOT discriminate to what part of town you are, who you are or what type of services you offer.
The DDPAI does provide a good service to the town and dayboro district, one way or the other, apart from the Monthly Markets it is not clear what these services are.
We are non-biased, welcome feedback, are not part of any “closed” group or “clan”. We simply provide information for free and promote for free.
About this website
What is it about, is it about Dayboro and dayboro district or is it about Dayboroinfo….. Well therein lies the problem, so to make it easy it is about BOTH but more important it is for YOU.
I build the site back in 2004 because I tried to answer questions people asked, where to find this, where to find that etc.
For years I have been involved in science, forensic research, business architecture and information architecture (well all the TOGAF segments really).
I always had a knack for computers, but I use them, as you would use “a cup to move the coffee from the machine to your mouth”. So with that in mind, I wanted to consolidate all the information about dayboro into one easy to navigate and found a spot.
If I succeed or not, that is up to you.
That is when I came to Dayboro, a little while ago according to some of the residents. When I arrived, I contact the Dayboro Progress Association Inc. to see if there was any way I could assist.
I attended the meeting with a few representatives, was received by an icy reception. Was going like, no we don’t do it like that in Dayboro. Yes you can volunteer, but you need to become a member and pay membership, then I was told they do not like non-deborians…
Pretty much wait for 25yrs before you are allowed in :-).
Times have changed, and the members have changed, so have I. We did some work for them in 2012 helping with their logo and their Dayboro Day, but that was pretty much it.
As the time progressed I started collecting weather data in April 2004, some might know Lyndhurst Hill Weather station, which became dayboroweather.com.
At that stage, there were no online weather stations like we have now. Even the BOM was relatively “pre-historic” compared to now (2016). The weather station is still bubbling along, it does not get the attention it deserves, but it is still here.
Still, something was missing….. a business directory that was available online. At the time there was the APEX Dayboro Business directory, also affectionately called “dayboro blue book”.
I did (and still do) not want to compete with that initiative, so I had to do something different. The concept of an online guided business directory was born. I started the site as MyDayboro.com, and it has been like that for a long while. In the meantime, APEX dissolved due to lack of members.
Another Dayboro business gone
Over the years I got emails for adding a business or removing a business to the point that I was concerned about the amount of turn-over in businesses.
The same building could see a real-estate, plumber, pizza place, rodent habitat and back to (a better) pizza place in the space of a few years. It is crazy.
This also raised the question…. how “updated” is my online business directory? More so…. is the printed business directory out-dated before it is printed? Most likely it is.
Businesses come and go, that is progress, or more so, evolution it is part of doing business. The business owner controls that to an extent…. HOWEVER…. what they could not control were their online business listings. Especially those that are set up in a rush and then abandoned.
Another dayboro business directory
Since 2004 I have seen several business directories come and go, this is not a problem it is the same as with businesses. It is evolution…. HOWEVER.
Dayboro Business owners got left hanging, once the listing is out there and not maintained it is there. Business owners will be left exposed to wrong, incorrect and out to date information.
In a case like that no information is better than wrong information. There are several examples of outdated business listings, even the site run by the progress association contains obsolete information. I even tried to get my details listed, but they do not want to do that for whatever reason. It appears that our business (not the directory) is not important enough.
It does not stop there. I got an email from the original owner of dayborovalley.com.au. I should stop publishing weather information because he had that covered, not only that I should stop running mydayboro.com immediately…..
Well there you have it…. we had a good chuckle about that here in the office. As time progresses, the owner of dayborovalley.com.au moved to SA or left Dayboro, all information was still online, even for businesses that were no longer trading.
Most of those businesses are one-man(or woman)-band type setups, and they used their private mobile numbers as contact numbers.
Needless to say that they got calls they did no longer want. I got contacted by some of those business owners, but there was nothing I could do. In the end, I contacted the owner of dayborovalley.com.au to transfer the domain to me so I could at least fix it. This request caused a few ripples, but it is fixed now. Let’s move on….
Never been happy with the layout of the original site, not only that it was too hard for people to change their listings.
For that reason, we build a new site that is in front of you now. There are again other sites around that do the same. I did not know that until we got some calls from our hosting customers, asking what this other (dayboro.com) business directory site was about, and why the owner of dayboro.com contacted them.
I guess the quickest way to get listings is to use an existing site to grab all the details… It works that is how the internet works. So here we are in 2017, let’s see what this year brings. For now… enjoy the ride, visit the fantastic businesses that make up this community, enjoy the historic walk and more so…… buy local. Support those who work and play in the Dayboro District
